The
Traffic Club of St. Louis 2009-2010
Changes/Improvements
Notes from the President
Hello again everyone,I am writing this note to provide an update
on several keys changes and improvements that we are making this year in order to make the club more efficient and relevant.
1.
Elimination
of the printed and mailed newsletter.
2. The continuing development of the traffic club website.
3. The reduction of membership fees
to $25, down from $65.
4. An aggressive push to gain new members. I am totally convinced that the Traffic Club, along with several other clubs in
the area, can now be called “important” given the state of things.
For many years I have heard a reoccurring
theme from past and even current members---why join, or what am I paying my dues for? Well we have been
listening, so here is a brief look at “why” you should be active and join our club.
1. The continual improvement of our website—www.trafficclubofstlouis.comThe long term goal of our website
is to make it a “must checkout” every month type of thing and strong personal resource.
·
On
the site you will see monthly articles that will discuss many topics in transportation.
· When you join we have started
something new called the “New Member Spotlight.” If you want, this will allow you to introduce yourself to the
members, if not we won’t! We have a few examples on the site now of new members spotlighted.
· My personal favorite will be notes
from me—the President!
·
You
can submit a letter or article too if you want that we can post on the site.
· Pictures, Pictures, and more Pictures---Hundreds of
color photos can be viewed on the site already from several events over the past few years. (See what you have been missing?)
· For $25 dollars you can be a corporate sponsor and put your business card on the site.
· We will be connecting our clubs website, and activities, to other the other Traffic Clubs in the Midwest websites
such as Indy, Chicago, Memphis, and Kansas City. I will be personally visiting all of them over the next
6 months of my term to gain their involvement. So when you log onto our site you will be able to see their
activities in other cities, and vice versa.
2. The Employment
Bulletin. Brad Reinhardt’s weekly brainchild has grown into an incredible resource for not only individuals
seeking employment, but is also being used by employers as well. In my opinion Brad’s development
of this program is the most significant improvement in transportation networking of all time. Over 300
people have found employment so far by using his bulletin in just 3 years. I doubt that this is being done
anywhere else in the nation, but should be, and we are lucky to have it here is St. Louis. Thanks Brad!!! Lastly, we will be holding a 9 hole Golf, Happy Hour, and Membership Drive event
on Oct. 14th at Crystal Springs Quarry in Maryland Heights, MO. The cost for the golf
is $25 and the Happy Drinks will be free for a few hours.
We will be demonstrating our website on a screen at the Happy Hour, and be handing out membership flyers as well.
It will be a pretty low key event but definitely a lot of fun!!!!
See you there,
AL Hursey
